Announcing Spring 2017s Share Your Shutters Winner05/08/2017Matt Thelander We’re moving through springtime here in New York City, but we haven’t forgotten about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. Our winner for Spring is Tonya S., who submitted some photos of her new shutters that really show off some great design choices. Tonya’s house features some stunning new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Since those shutters are closed, you can really get a look at how well plantation shutters can really help you control light. Imagine that dining room with some softer lighting; it would be a picture-perfect setting for a romantic candlelit dinner, right? With the right shutters in your house like Tonya has, you can capture the mood you want regardless of what it’s like outside. Take a look at how the white shutters perfectly match the white trim near the floors and the white ceiling. Those neutral tones let the black table and the hardwood floor’s natural color shine even more. That wasn’t Tonya’s only photo submission, however. She also sent in a photo of her brand-new sliding barn door shutter! There are a few reasons we love this barn door shutter. First off, it looks fantastic. The homegrown aesthetic of the wood with that modern jet black frame above give a timeless yet cozy look. What we like even more than the looks is the practicality of the shutter. Her barn door shutter sits on the front of the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still letting the window operate. Because the shutter sits outside the frame, Tonya can still use that deep window jamb, too. For example, if she wanted to set a plant on the sill to get sunlight, she’s even able to close the shutter to let it catch some rays while keeping her home dim if she likes. Tonya tells us that this is the third time she’s had Sunburst install window treatments for her home, and we want to thank her for her continued support in choosing us for all her shutter needs. For winning our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest, Tonya received a $100 gift card to a restaurant in her area. If you want to show off your shutters and possibly be featured on our next Share Your Shutters contest, we want to see them! Share a photo of your favorite room with shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or upload a photo to our Facebook page. We’d love to showcase some shutters from a New Yorker in our next update! Or if Tonya’s photos make you think your house is missing a little something, we’d love to help.
